The purpose of this informational briefing is to receive a critical update from the Department of Human Services (DHS) regarding the impact of the current Federal Government Shutdown on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in Hawaiʻi and to review the state's contingency plan to ensure food security for affected residents. The agenda will focus on confirming the status of benefits for the current and future months and outlining the economic and social impact on the state's economy. Discussion will also cover other critical, federally-funded, state-administered HHS programs, specifically the highly vulnerable WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) program, and impacts to Food Bank Hawaii.
