Your Committee on Agriculture & Food Systems, to which was referred S.C.R. No. 164, S.D. 1, entitled:

"SENATE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE TO ADOPT RULES AUTHORIZING RODEOS ON LANDS ZONED FOR AGRICULTURAL USE,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to request the Department of Agriculture to adopt rules authorizing rodeos on land zones for agricultural use.

Your Committee has received testimony in support of this measure from Hawaii Cattlemen's Council, Hawaiʻi Farm Bureau, and nine individuals. Your Committee has received comments from the Department of Agriculture and Town& Country Rocker G Livestock.

Your Committee finds that the State possesses a rich ranching history and paniolo culture that would be honored by authorizing rodeos on lands zoned for agricultural use. This measure requests the Department of Agriculture to adopt rules authorizing rodeos on lands zoned for agricultural use.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Agriculture & Food Systems that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of S.C.R. No. 164, S.D. 1, and recommends its adoption.
