Your Committee on Culture & Arts, to which was referred H.R. No. 90 entitled:
"HOUSE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE GOVERNOR TO ISSUE A PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING HAWAII AS A PURPLE HEART STATE ON AUGUST 7, 2025,"
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from two individuals.
Your Committee finds that the Purple Heart is one of the most recognized, respected, and oldest military decorations awarded to members of the United States Armed Forces and only awarded to those service members who have been injured or killed in military service to the United States. Your Committee believes that given the State's deep military history, it is proper for the State to specifically honor the sacrifices of service members who have received the Purple Heart and demonstrate appreciation for its veterans.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Culture & Arts that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.R. No. 90 and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Public Safety.
