H.B. NO.

135

THIRTY-THIRD LEGISLATURE, 2025

H.D. 1

STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO LAND.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1.  The legislature finds that the State's purchase of the real property located at 64-486 Kamehameha highway, also known as "weed circle", on the north shore of Oahu, together with the city and county of Honolulu in implementing the city's North Shore Sustainable Communities Plan, is important to realizing sustainable development for communities in the area.

The legislature further finds that providing a park and ride shuttle service along the north shore of Oahu would reduce traffic congestion and improve the quality of life for area residents.  The legislature also finds that the purchase of this real property is essential because the land is intended to serve as the primary parking hub where residents and visitors would be able to park and access the shuttle.

Therefore, the purpose of this Act is to appropriate funds for the purchase of the real property located at 64-486 Kamehameha highway on the north shore of Oahu.

SECTION 2.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2025-2026 to purchase the real property located at 64-486 Kamehameha highway (TMK:  1-6-4-001-015) on the north shore of Oahu.

The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of transportation for the purposes of this Act.

SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 3000.
