RELATING TO ENDEMIC PLANTS.

Requires the University of Hawaii at Manoa College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience to establish an endemic plant seed bank pilot program to preserve and promote the planting of plant species that are endemic to Hawaii.  Effective 7/1/3000.  (HD1)

RELATING TO CANCER.

Appropriates funds to the University of Hawaii Cancer Center to conduct a multiethnic cohort study focusing on the social determinants of health, lifestyles, environmental exposures, and resilience factors of Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Filipinos, including an analysis of the health effects and risks of individuals living in close proximity to landfills in Nanakuli, Oahu.  Requires the University of Hawaii Cancer Center to seek federal funding to complete the study.  Effective 7/1/3000.  (HD1)

Establishes and appropriates funds for a three-year new wastewater system and individual wastewater system technology testing pilot program within the University of Hawaii Water Resources Research Center.  Requires interim and final reports to the Legislature.  Effective 7/1/3000.  (HD1)

RELATING TO SPORTS FACILITIES.

Proposed HD2: 

Lapses appropriations of general obligation bond funds previously authorized for the planning, design, and construction of a stadium in Halawa by the Stadium Authority. Transfers certain special fund moneys earmarked for the development of a new stadium in Halawa to the general fund. Authorizes the issuance of general obligation bonds for a new stadium on the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus. Renames the Stadium Authority as the Halawa Redevelopment Authority and the Stadium Development District as the Halawa Redevelopment District. Amends the powers and duties of the Halawa Redevelopment Authority. Effective 7/1/3000. (PROPOSED HD2)

MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Appropriates moneys to the University of Hawaii I Hoa Na Moolelo program for the hiring of 1 graduate assistant and acquiring a new website domain.

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony received after this time will be stamped late and left to the discretion of the chair to consider.  While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may not be processed.

The chair may institute a per-testifier time limit.

 

Committees meeting in the morning must adjourn prior to the day's Floor Session.  Therefore, due to time constraints, not all testifiers may be provided an opportunity to offer verbal comments.  However, written submissions will be considered by the committee.

 

Please refrain from profanity or uncivil behavior.  Violations may result in ejection from the hearing without the ability to rejoin.
