The purpose of this informational briefing is to explore the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in K-12 and post-secondary education. The discussion will include an overview of how AI is currently being utilized in Hawaiʻi classrooms and its potential impact on academic settings. The committee will hear from the following experts:
· Gabe Yanagihara, Educator and AI Innovator
· Heidi Armstrong, Deputy Superintendent, Department of Education (DOE)
· Vassilis Syrmos, Vice President for Research and Innovation, University of Hawaiʻi
· Michael Bruno, Provost, University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa
· Garrett Yoshimi, VP for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer, University of Hawaiʻi
No public testimony will be accepted.
