Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred S.B. No. 828, S.D. 1, H.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION MEDICAL BENEFITS,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to expand workers' compensation medical benefits coverage to include firefighters who develop certain cancers or diseases in the discharge of their firefighting duties.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations; Hawaiʻi State Fire Council; Disability and Communication Access Board; Honolulu Fire Department; Hawaii Fire Fighters Association, Local 1463, IAFF, AFL-CIO; and three individuals.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 828, S.D. 1, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
