Madame:

Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred S.B. No. 222, S.D. 1, H.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO FIREWORKS,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to:

(1) Extend the sunset date of the Illegal Fireworks Task Force from June 30, 2025, to June 30, 2030, and require the Task Force to submit additional reports to the Legislature; and

(2) Appropriate funds to support the work of the Illegal Fireworks Task Force.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Honolulu Police Department; Ohana Unity Party; and three individuals.

Your Committee has amended this measure by changing the effective date to July 1, 3000, to encourage further discussion.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 222, S.D. 1, H.D. 1, as amended herein, and recommends that it pass Third Reading in the form attached hereto as S.B. No. 222, S.D. 1, H.D. 2.
