STAND. COM. REP. NO.  1511

Honolulu, Hawaii

                , 2025

RE:   H.R. No. 37

Honorable Nadine K. Nakamura

Speaker, House of Representatives

Thirty-Third State Legislature

Regular Session of 2025

State of Hawaii

Madame:

Your Committee on Transportation, to which was referred H.R. No. 37 entitled:

"HOUSE RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HONOLULU AUTHORITY FOR RAPID TRANSPORTATION TO EXTEND THE SKYLINE RAIL PROJECT TO THE WESTSIDE OF OʻAHU,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to request the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation to extend the Skyline rail project to the Westside of Oʻahu.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from one individual.

Your Committee finds that the existing route of the Skyline rail project does not adequately serve the growing communities of Nānākuli, Ko ʻOlina, Māʻili, and the Westside of Oʻahu.  An extension of the project to the Westside of Oʻahu will further alleviate traffic congestion and provide an alternative means of egress and ingress to these communities.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Transportation that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.R. No. 37 and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Finance.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Transportation,
