     Your Committee on Public Safety, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 37 entitled:

 

"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE HAWAII EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY TO COLLABORATE WITH RELEVANT AGENCIES TO DEVELOP INITIATIVES AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO INFORM KUPUNA ABOUT EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to request the Hawaii Emergency Management Agency to collaborate with relevant agencies to develop initiatives and outreach programs to inform kupuna about emergency preparedness.

 

     The Department of Human Concerns of the County of Maui, the Hawaii Council of Community Associations, the Hawaii Family Caregiver Coalition, AARP Hawaii, the Alzheimer's Association, Be Ready Manoa, and the Pearl City Neighborhood Board No. 21 provided testimony in support of this resolution. Four individuals provided testimony in support of this resolution. The Kaneohe/Kahaluu Community Emergency Response Team provided comments.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Public Safety that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 37 and recommends that it be referred to your Committee on Human Services & Homelessness.
