STAND. COM. REP. NO.  1650

Honolulu, Hawaii

                , 2025

RE:   H.C.R. No. 33

Honorable Nadine K. Nakamura

Speaker, House of Representatives

Thirty-Third State Legislature

Regular Session of 2025

State of Hawaii

Madame:

Your Committee on Economic Development & Technology, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 33 entitled:

"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE POSTMASTER GENERAL OF THE UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE TO RELOCATE THE PEARL CITY POST OFFICE TO THE UNITED STATES NAVY PROPERTY ON THE PEARL CITY PENINSULA,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to request the Postmaster General of the United States Postal Service to relocate the Pearl City Post Office to the United States Navy property on the Pearl City Peninsula.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Pearl City Neighborhood Board and three individuals.

Your Committee finds that there are safety and traffic congestion concerns regarding the Pearl City Post Office, located on the northeast corner of Kamehameha Highway and Acacia Road.  Your Committee further finds that the Pearl City Post Office is at its maximum spatial capacity to accommodate the increased need for postal services in the area.  This measure encourages the relocation of the Pearl City Post Office to a larger, less-congested area.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Economic Development & Technology that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 33 and recommends its adoption.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Economic Development & Technology,
