RE: H.C.R. No. 180
H.D. 1
Honorable Nadine K. Nakamura
Speaker, House of Representatives
Thirty-Third State Legislature
Regular Session of 2025
State of Hawaii
Madame:
Your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs, to which was referred H.C.R. No. 180, H.D. 1, entitled:
"HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REQUESTING THE STATEWIDE OFFICE ON HOMELESSNESS AND HOUSING SOLUTIONS, DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT, HOMELESS COORDINATORS OF EACH COUNTY, COUNTY LAW ENFORCEMENT, AND SOCIAL SERVICES PROVIDERS TO WORK COLLABORATIVELY AND EFFECTIVELY TO ADDRESS HOMELESSNESS IN HAWAII,"
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee finds that homelessness
remains a critical issue in Hawaii, requiring a coordinated, multi-agency
approach to develop effective solutions. Collaboration among state agencies,
nonprofit organizations, and community partners will enhance efforts to improve
housing stability, public health, and safety. By fostering strategic
partnerships and resource-sharing, this measure aims to create sustainable,
long-term solutions that address the root causes of homelessness and support
those in need.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.C.R. No. 180, H.D. 1, and recommends its adoption.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs,
