     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 714, H.D. 1, entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO HEALTH CARE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds to support educational training programs to expand the State's health care workforce, including health care certificate programs and classroom renovations for health care training in public high schools and education programs that support Certified Nurse Assistants in becoming Licensed Practical Nurses.

 

     Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs; State Health Planning and Development Agency; State Council on Developmental Disabilities; Hawaii Health Systems Corporation Corporate Board of Directors; Hawaiʻi State Center for Nursing; Hilo Benioff Medical Center; Hawaii Substance Abuse Coalition; Hawaiʻi Pacific Health; Hawaiʻi Primary Care Association; Kaiser Permanente Hawaiʻi; Liberty Dialysis Hawaiʻi; The Queen's Health Systems; Hawaii Medical Association; Hawaiʻi – American Nurses Association; Hawaii Medical Service Association; and one individual.  Your Committee received comments on this measure from the Department of Education; Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; University of Hawaiʻi System; and Healthcare Association of Hawaii.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 714, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
