Your Committees on Tourism and Economic Development & Technology, to which was referred H.B. No. 448 entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO TECHNOLOGY ENABLEMENT,"
beg leave to report as follows:
Your Committees received testimony in support of this measure from the Hawaiʻi Technology Development Corporation; Hawaii Food Industry Association; and WaiHome LLC.
Your Committees find
that the Hawaii Technology Development Corporation provides small businesses
with access to modern digital tools and advanced technology to optimize
operations, expand to new markets, reduce manufacturing costs, and become
globally competitive.
Your Committees have
amended this measure by:
(1) Changing the appropriation to an unspecified amount;
(2) Changing its effective date to July 1, 3000, to encourage further discussion; and
(3) Making technical, nonsubstantive amendments for the purposes of clarity, consistency, and style.
Your Committees respectfully request your Committee on Finance, should it deliberate on this measure, to consider appropriating $250,000 for the Hawaii Technology Development Corporation to assist small businesses, including those related to the tourism sector, with technology enablement.
As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committees on Tourism and Economic Development & Technology that are attached to this report, your Committees are in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 448, as amended herein, and recommend that it pass Second Reading in the form attached hereto as H.B. No. 448, H.D. 1, and be referred to your Committee on Finance.
