     Your Committee on Ways and Means, to which was referred H.B. No. 400, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose and intent of this measure is to appropriate moneys for the Judiciary for fiscal years 2025-2026 and 2026-2027.

 

     Your Committee received written comments in support of this measure from the Judiciary, Department of Education, The Legal Clinic, Legal Aid Society of Hawaii, Hawaii State Bar Association, Volunteer Legal Services Hawaii, and one individual.

 


 

     This measure, as introduced, makes the following appropriations:

     Your Committee has amended this measure by:

 

     (1)  Clarifying operating and capital improvement project amounts;

 

     (2)  Changing the effective date to July 1, 2050, to facilitate further discussion on the measure; and

 

     (3)  Making technical, nonsubstantive amendments for the purposes of clarity, consistency, and style.

 

     This measure, as amended, makes the following appropriations:

     Your Committee finds that this measure, as amended, provides sufficient funding for the Judiciary for the approaching fiscal biennium.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Ways and Means that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 400, H.D. 1, S.D. 1, as amended herein, and recommends that it pass Third Reading in the form attached hereto as H.B. No. 400, H.D. 1, S.D. 2.
