COM. REP. NO. 286
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2025
RE: H.B. No. 400
Honorable Nadine K. Nakamura
Speaker, House of Representatives
Thirty-Third State Legislature
Regular Session of 2025
State of Hawaii
Madame:
Your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs, to which was referred H.B. No. 400 entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE JUDICIARY,"
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Judiciary; Volunteer Legal Services Hawaiʻi; Legal Aid Society of Hawaiʻi; The Legal Clinic; and two individuals.
Your Committee finds that the appropriations made by this measure will assist the Judiciary in its efforts to fulfill its constitutional, statutory, and public service duties.
Your Committee respectfully requests your Committee on Finance, should it deliberate on this measure, to consider authorizing $7,000,000 in lump sum general obligation bond funds for capital improvement projects for Judiciary facilities to account for the additional cost of $2,000,000 to relocate the Children's Justice Center.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 400 and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be referred to your Committee on Finance.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs,
