     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 1300, H.D. 1, entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO CANCER,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to appropriate funds to the University of Hawaii Cancer Center to conduct a multiethnic cohort study focusing on the social determinants of health, lifestyles, environmental exposures, and resilience factors of Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, and Filipinos, including an analysis of the health effects and risks of individuals living in close proximity to landfills in Nanakuli, Oahu.

 

     Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs; University of Hawaiʻi Cancer Center; John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa; Hawaii Primary Care Association; The Queen's Health Systems; American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network; Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center; and four individuals.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1300, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
