COM. REP. NO. 1968
Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: GOV. MSG. NO. 735
Honorable Ronald D. Kouchi
President of the Senate
Thirty-Third State Legislature
Regular Session of 2025
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Water and Land, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 735, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
Hawai'i Community
Development Authority (Kakaako District)
G.M. No. 735 |
MICHAEL CHINA, for a term to expire 06-30-2029, |
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by Michael China for service on the Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority (Kakaako District).
Your Committee received testimony in support of the nomination for the reappointment of Michael China from the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism; Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority; and one individual.
Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Mr. China's experience, knowledge, proven leadership, and dedication to the redevelopment of the Kakaako Community District qualify him for reappointment to the Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority. Your Committee notes that Mr. China is currently employed with the Hoʻea Wealth Advisory Group, the only wealth management team from Hawaii to be listed on Forbes' rankings of top wealth management teams. Mr. China is active in his community, serving on the advisory board for McKinley High School's Business Academy. Your Committee finds that Mr. China has served on the Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority since 2024, and therefore he thoroughly understands the roles and responsibilities of board members and his knowledge and experience will continue to be assets to the Authority. Your Committee therefore recommends that Michael China be reappointed to the Hawaiʻi Community Development Authority for matters affecting the Kakaako District based on his experience, knowledge, and commitment to public service.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Water and Land that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Water and Land,
|
