COM. REP. NO. 1966
Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: GOV. MSG. NO. 663
Honorable Ronald D. Kouchi
President of the Senate
Thirty-Third State Legislature
Regular Session of 2025
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Government Operations, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 663, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
911 Board
G.M. No. 663 |
COREY SHAFFER, for a term to expire 06-30-2026. (Board/Commission Name amended to 911 Board by GM712), |
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by Cory Shaffer for service on the 911 Board.
Your Committee received testimony in support of the nomination for the reappointment of Cory Shaffer from North Shore Law Offices LLLC and two individuals.
Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Cory Shaffer's experience, knowledge, and proven leadership qualify him to be nominated for reappointment to the 911 Board as a member representing a wireless communications service provider. Your Committee notes that Mr. Shaffer is a system performance engineer with over twenty years of experience in the telecommunications industry as an employee of Verizon Wireless. Mr. Shaffer has been a Senior Manager of Network Operations with Verizon Wireless since 2019, where he leads a team of system and field engineers; manages all Verizon Wireless switching centers, cell sites, fiber hubs, and warehouses in the State; and is responsible for all wireless network issues and capital project activations in the State. Your Committee further notes that Mr. Shaffer has been serving on the 911 Board since 2018, most recently as its Chair, and therefore, has a thorough understanding of the roles and responsibilities of its members. Your Committee finds that Mr. Shaffer's experience, knowledge, and leadership will continue to be assets to the 911 Board. Your Committee therefore recommends that Cory Shaffer be reappointed to the 911 Board based on his experience, knowledge, and commitment to public service.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Government Operations that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Government Operations,
|
