Honolulu, Hawaii
RE: GOV. MSG. NO. 562
Honorable Ronald D. Kouchi
President of the Senate
Thirty-Third State Legislature
Regular Session of 2025
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection, to which was referred Governor's Message No. 562, submitting for study and consideration the nomination of:
Cable Advisory
Committee
G.M. No. 562 |
NATHANIEL EVSLIN, for a term to expire 06-30-2028, |
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee reviewed the personal history, resume, and statement submitted by Nathaniel Evslin for service on the Cable Advisory Committee.
Your Committee received testimony in support of the nomination for the appointment of Nathaniel Evslin from the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs and two individuals.
Upon review of the testimony, your Committee finds that Mr. Evslin's background and dedication to serving the public qualify him to be appointed to the Cable Advisory Committee. Your Committee notes that Mr. Evslin has been an educator and administrator since 2005. He currently serves as the Kauaʻi Campus Director of the Hawaiʻi Technology Academy, granting him firsthand knowledge of the importance of broadband and cable access in education. Previously, Mr. Evslin served in various positions at Island School in Lihue, including High School Division Director, Dean of Students, Director of Deeper Learning and Technology, Technology Coordinator, and teacher. Outside of his professional activities, Mr. Evslin currently serves as a board member for the Kōkeʻe Discovery Center Association, Inc. and Hoʻike Kauaʻi Community Television, and previously served with the Hawaii Society for Technology in Education. Your Committee finds that Mr. Evslin has a thorough understanding of the role and responsibilities of board members and his extensive experience in the area of technology and digital media education will continue to enhance the effectiveness of the Cable Advisory Committee. Your Committee therefore recommends that Nathaniel Evslin be appointed to the Cable Advisory Committee based on his knowledge, experience, and unique understanding of the role that public access television plays in preserving local culture.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection that is attached to this report, your Committee, after full consideration of the background, experience, and qualifications of the nominee, has found the nominee to be qualified for the position to which nominated and recommends that the Senate advise and consent to the nomination.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Commerce and Consumer Protection,
|
