A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE Thirty-sixth REPRESENTATIVE DISTRICT.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 

     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $46,524,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2025-2026 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the thirty-sixth representative district, as follows:

1.   August Ahrens elementary school

     construction for 1st Circle covered walkway

     Construction                 $1,500,000

          Total funding                     $1,500,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

2.   August Ahrens elementary school

     construction for administrative building office layout

     Construction                   $750,000

          Total funding                       $750,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

3.   August Ahrens elementary school

     construction for canopy to existing play areas

     Construction                   $300,000

          Total funding                       $300,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

4.   August Ahrens elementary school

     construction for I Cafe and J Cafe, including reflooring and air conditioning

     Construction                   $500,000

          Total funding                       $500,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

5.   August Ahrens elementary school

     construction for main cafeteria, including expansion, reflooring, and air conditioning

     Construction                 $7,000,000

          Total funding                     $7,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

6.   August Ahrens elementary school

     construction for new playcourt, including covering

     Construction                 $5,000,000

          Total funding                     $5,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

7.   August Ahrens elementary school

     construction for phase 2 of new building

     Construction                $15,000,000

          Total funding                    $15,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

8.   August Ahrens elementary school

     construction for play areas and playground

     Construction                   $300,000

          Total funding                       $300,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

9.   August Ahrens elementary school

     equipment and appurtenances for library outdoor learning

     Equipment                    $6,000,000

          Total funding                     $6,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

10.  August Ahrens elementary school

     equipment and appurtenances for library small parking lot

     Equipment                    $2,000,000

          Total funding                     $2,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

11.  August Ahrens elementary school

     equipment and appurtenances for Tucker Field running track

     Equipment                      $200,000

          Total funding                       $200,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

12.  Waipahu elementary school

     construction for parking

     Construction                 $5,000,000

          Total funding                     $5,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

13.  Waipahu intermediate school

     construction for cafeteria bathroom reconfiguration

     Construction                   $800,000

          Total funding                       $800,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

14.  Waipahu intermediate school

     construction for cafeteria heat abatement

     Equipment                       $50,000

          Total funding                        $50,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

15.  Waipahu intermediate school

     construction for covered courts with lighting

     Construction                 $2,000,000

          Total funding                     $2,000,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

16.  Waipahu intermediate school

     construction for general repairs for water main

     Construction                   $100,000

          Total funding                       $100,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

17.  Waipahu intermediate school

     equipment and appurtenances for classroom air conditioning

     Equipment                       $24,000

          Total funding                        $24,000

     The sum appropriated for this capital improvement project shall be expended by the department of education.

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2028, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2025.
