A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to animals.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Section 142-44, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended to read as follows:
"§142-44 Owners of unbranded animals. All cattle,
horses, mules, donkeys, sheep, goats, and swine, over twelve months of age, not
marked or branded, which may be running wild at any time on any lands in the
State, shall belong to and be the property of the owners or lessees of the
lands on which the animals are then running[.]; provided that if the
animal is on public lands, the animal shall belong to any person who
intentionally feeds the animal."
SECTION 2. Statutory material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New statutory material is underscored.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
