A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO HAWAIIAN HOME LANDS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. The Hawaiian Homes Commission Act, 1920, as amended, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§ Law enforcement; authority. (a) Within lands under the department of Hawaiian home lands' jurisdiction, the department shall have the nonexclusive authority to enforce state statutes and rules and county ordinances and rules in the same manner as state sheriffs and county police officers.

(b) The Hawaiian homes commission shall adopt rules pursuant to chapter 91, Hawaii Revised Statutes, necessary for the purposes of this section."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2024.
