A BILL FOR AN ACT

relating to school security.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 302A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part III, subpart C, to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§302A-   School security personnel; training; presence at school facilities. The department shall:

(1) Assign school security personnel at all department schools and facilities where students are present;

(2) Determine the appropriate number of security personnel for each school; and

(3) Develop and adopt hiring and training requirements for school security personnel."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
