A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO LIMITED-PROFIT HOUSING ASSOCIATIONS.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
(1) The executive director of the Hawaii housing finance and development corporation, who shall serve as the co-chair;
(2) The executive director of the Hawaii public housing authority, who shall serve as the co-chair;
(3) The director of the department of business, economic development, and tourism, or the director's designee;
(4) The attorney general, or the attorney general's designee;
(5) The director of taxation, or the director's designee;
(6) The chairs of the standing committees of the senate and house of representatives with subject matter jurisdiction over housing, or their designees;
(7) One representative from the city and county of Honolulu, as designated by the mayor of the city and county of Honolulu;
(8) One representative from the county of Maui, as designated by the mayor of Maui;
(9) One representative from the county of Kauai, as designated by the mayor of Kauai; and
(10) One representative from the county of Hawaii, as designated by the mayor of Hawaii.
(b) The working group shall study the feasibility and applicability of adopting a limited-profit housing association system in the State.
(c) The working group shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the regular session of 2024.
(d) The working group shall cease on June 30, 2024.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on June 30, 3000.
