HOUSE RESOLUTION
URGING THE LEADERSHIP OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LAW ENFORCEMENT TO PERIODICALLY UNDERGO TRAINING ON CRIMES RELATING TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TECHNOLOGY.
WHEREAS, technology is improving daily and at a rapid pace; and
WHEREAS, artificial intelligence is a technological marvel that can advance workplace productivity, artistic expression, and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, like any technology, artificial intelligence can also be abused and used for criminal purposes; and
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers will likely investigate an increasing number of crimes relating to artificial intelligence in the upcoming years; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2024, that the Director, Deputy Directors, and Administrators of the Department of Law Enforcement are urged to undergo training on crimes relating to artificial intelligence technology, including deepfakes and other related technologies, at least every two years; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Law
Enforcement, who is requested to transmit copies to the Deputy Directors and Administrators of the Department of Law Enforcement.
