COM. REP. NO. 1667
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2023
RE: H.R. No. 197
Honorable Scott K. Saiki
Speaker, House of Representatives
Thirty-Second State Legislature
Regular Session of 2023
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Energy & Environmental Protection, to which was referred H.R. No. 197 entitled:
"HOUSE RESOLUTION URGING THE HAWAI‘I CLIMATE CHANGE MITIGATION AND ADAPTATION COMMISSION TO DEVELOP A PROACTIVE AND COMPREHENSIVE COMMUNICATION STRATEGY TO EDUCATE HAWAII'S RESIDENTS ABOUT THE HEALTH IMPACTS OF THE CLIMATE CRISIS,"
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee received testimony in opposition to this measure from one individual.
Your Committee finds that Hawaii remains
particularly vulnerable to the effects of climate change, thereby endangering
the health, safety, and welfare of its people and warranting preemptive and
protective action. This measure requests
the Hawaii Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation Commission to develop a
comprehensive communication strategy to inform the public of the full spectrum
of public health risks posed by the climate crisis.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Energy & Environmental Protection that is attached to this report, your Committee concurs with the intent and purpose of H.R. No. 197 and recommends its adoption.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Energy & Environmental Protection,
