SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
Requesting the department of human resources development to draft a report on how a study may be conducted on gender pay inequities and what considerations need to be taken.
WHEREAS, while the difference between the earnings of men and women, or the gender pay gap, has shrunk, the latest U.S. Census Bureau data shows that women in the State still made only 89.4 percent for every dollar that men made in 2019; and
WHEREAS, the State is one of the largest employers in the State, and gender pay equality within the government may help overall pay equity statewide by a large margin; and
WHEREAS, pay disparity in the State should be measured so that it may be resolved; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2023, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Department of Human Resources Development is requested to draft a report on how a study may be conducted on gender pay inequities and what considerations should be taken into account; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Human Resources Development.
