A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII COLLEGE OF TROPICAL AGRICULTURE AND HUMAN RESOURCES.
BE IT
ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. There is appropriated out of the university of Hawaii tuition and fees special fund the sum of $500,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2023-2024 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2024-2025 for the college of tropical agriculture and human resources at the university of Hawaii at Manoa to establish five administrative, professional, and technical full-time equivalent (5.0 APT FTE) positions; provided that the sums appropriated shall be expended as follows:
(1) $100,000 for one administrative, professional, and technical full-time equivalent (1.0 APT FTE) extension specialist in entomology in Hilo, county of Hawaii;
(2) $100,000 for one administrative, professional, and technical full-time equivalent (1.0 APT FTE) extension agent in livestock in Hilo, county of Hawaii;
(3) $100,000 for one administrative, professional, and technical full-time equivalent (1.0 APT FTE) state extension specialist in livestock at the university of Hawaii at Manoa;
(4) $100,000 for one administrative, professional, and technical full-time equivalent (1.0 APT FTE) extension agent in livestock in the county of Kauai; and
(5) $100,000 for one administrative, professional, and technical full-time equivalent (1.0 APT FTE) extension agent in farm and consumer food safety in the county of Maui.
The sums appropriated shall be expended by the university of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 2. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2023.
