HOUSE RESOLUTION

REQUESTING THE CITY AND COUNTY OF HONOLULU TO CONSTRUCT A NEW SWIMMING POOL COMPLEX.

WHEREAS, public health is a high priority; and

WHEREAS, recreation facilitates a healthy public; and

WHEREAS, public swimming pools promote both recreation and a sense of community; and

WHEREAS, the west side of the island of Oahu needs a swimming pool complex that accommodates it populace; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the Thirty-second Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2023, that the Honolulu City Council is requested to approve the construction of a new swimming pool complex that:

(1) Includes an olympic-sized swimming pool in which citizens may exercise and train;

(2) Includes a jetted hot tub;

(3) Includes a pool designed solely for children;

(4) Is located in the Forty-First House District; and

provide appropriate funding to design and construct the complex; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu is requested to approve the foregoing capital improvement project; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Chairperson of the Honolulu City Council and Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu.
