RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

Requires the University of Hawaii to establish in each county, K-12 expanded teaching cohort programs for students who are pursuing undergraduate degrees in education.  Requires interim reports to the Legislature prior to the Regular Sessions of 2023, 2024, and 2025, and a final report prior to the Regular Session of 2026.  Repeals 12/31/2026.  (SD1)

RELATING TO ENERGY.

Authorizes the Hawaii Technology Development Corporation to temporarily re-establish the Hawaii Office of Naval Research Grant Program to provide 50% matching grants to Hawaii awardees of alternative energy research grants from the Department of Defense Office of Naval Research.  Establishes the alternative energy research and development revolving fund.  Appropriates moneys into and out of the revolving fund.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD1)

RELATING TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SERVICES.

Establishes a technology services consolidation working group, which shall develop a plan for the phased consolidation of all state executive branch information technology services and staff within 5 years, except those of the Department of Education, Hawaii Health Systems Corporation, University of Hawaii, and Office of Hawaiian Affairs, under the Office of Enterprise Technology Services.  Requires the working group to recommend ways to attract high quality information technology professionals to the State.  Dissolves the working group on 6/30/2023.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD2)

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII COMMUNITY COLLEGES.

Appropriates moneys for the University of Hawaii Community Colleges' workforce development programs to fund administration, training, positions, and student support.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (SD1)

The chair may institute a per-testifier time limit.

 

Committees meeting in the morning must adjourn prior to the day's Floor Session.  Therefore, due to time constraints, not all testifiers may be provided an opportunity to offer verbal comments.  However, written submissions will be considered by the committee.

 

Please refrain from profanity or uncivil behavior.  Violations may result in ejection from the hearing without the ability to rejoin.

 

For remote testifiers, the House will not be responsible for bad connections on the testifier's end.
