Sir:
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred S.B. No. 76, S.D. 2, H.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO EDUCATION,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to:
(1) Require the Board of Education to prioritize for the Superintendent of Education position candidates that have the minimum qualification of ten years of employment in the Department of Education, with at least five of those years serving in the capacity as a teacher, principal, or higher; and
(2) Specify that a desired qualification for a candidate for the position of Superintendent of Education shall be a working understanding of the State's tri-level systems of educational administration.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of S.B. No. 76, S.D. 2, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
