Sir:
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 1865, H.D. 1, entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO CHARTER SCHOOLS,"
begs leave to report as follows:
The purpose of this measure is to:
(1) Repeal the exemption for charter schools from
requirements that the Board of Education use and expend certain federal funds
for specified purposes;
(2) Require authorizers to
timely provide state-level federal grant information to charter schools; and
(3) Require the State
Public Charter School Commission to disburse federal funds and per-pupil
funding directly to public charter schools.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1865, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
