COM. REP. NO. 774
Honolulu, Hawaii
, 2021
RE: H.B. No. 1075
Honorable Scott K. Saiki
Speaker, House of Representatives
Thirty-First State Legislature
Regular Session of 2021
State of Hawaii
Sir:
Your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs, to which was referred H.B. No. 1075 entitled:
"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO EMOLUMENTS,"
begs leave to report as follows:
Your Committee finds that in the event of the absence of the Governor from the State, or the Governor's inability to exercise and discharge the powers and duties of the Governor's office, the powers and duties of the Governor's office devolve upon the Lieutenant Governor during the absence or disability. It is essential that the Lieutenant Governor devote their complete attention, time, and energy to the office and avoid even the appearance of a potential conflict of interest.
As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1075 and recommends that it pass Second Reading and be placed on the calendar for Third Reading.
Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committee on Judiciary & Hawaiian Affairs,
