SENATE RESOLUTION
requesting the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs to provide information and conduct career-oriented presentations for high school juniors and seniors in the State regarding professions subject to licensure and certification by the professional and vocational LICENSING Division.
WHEREAS, the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs' Professional and Vocational Licensing Division (Division) is responsible for twenty-five professional boards and commissions and twenty-seven licensing programs; and
WHEREAS, in total, the Division licenses fifty-two different professions and vocations; and
WHEREAS, career-oriented presentations can help students start thinking more in-depth about what they want to do as adults; and
WHEREAS, especially for high school students nearing graduation, career-oriented presentations can provide an opportunity to receive information about an array of multiple occupations, including ones they may have never heard of, and can broaden their perspectives beyond classic and familiar jobs; and
WHEREAS, career-oriented presentations can also help students learn about what educational background and skills are required for certain industries and fields in which they have interests and provide an opportunity to ask questions and gain important information; and
WHEREAS, students in the State could greatly benefit from career-oriented presentations from the Division about the various professions and vocations it regulates to help inspire students to find their passions and develop a direction for their future; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirty-first Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2022, that the Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs is requested to provide information and conduct career-oriented presentations for high school juniors and seniors throughout the State regarding professions subject to licensure and certification by the Division; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that certified copies of this Resolution be transmitted to the Director of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Superintendent of Education, and Chairperson of the Board of Education.
