A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  (a)  The department of education shall conduct an electrical assessment on all public and conversion charter schools in the State to determine whether each school's electrical capacity will allow for the installation of air conditioning units and other air purifying devices in each classroom to improve ventilation.

     (b)  The department of education shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations regarding whether the electrical capacity will allow for the installation of air conditioning units and other air purifying devices in each classroom of all public and conversion charter schools in the State to the legislature no later than December 31, 2021.  The report shall note the level of need for air conditioning units in the classrooms of all public and charter school in the State.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

Description:
