A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to the university of Hawaii community colleges.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Upon the ratification of a constitutional amendment to establish the position of president of community colleges, and no later than twenty days prior to the regular session of 2023, the board of regents of the University of Hawaii shall submit proposed legislation to amend chapter 304A, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and other provisions of the Hawaii Revised Statutes, as necessary, to establish a president of community colleges as the head of the University of Hawaii community colleges, who shall report directly to the board of regents of the University of Hawaii.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon the approval of a constitutional amendment to establish the position of president of community colleges within the University of Hawaii system in accordance with article XVII, section 3, of the Constitution of the State of Hawaii.
