A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RelatING to agriculture education.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The purpose of this Act is to establish and fund two positions related to agriculture education and implementation.

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $200,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2022-2023 for one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) permanent position of school garden specialist to be placed within the department of education's office of curriculum and instructional design; provided that the funds may also be used for expenses related to procuring consultants, supplies, travel, and communications.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this section.

     SECTION 3.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $300,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2022-2023 for one full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) permanent position of agriculture education coordinator to be placed within the University of Hawaii at Manoa college of tropical agriculture and human resources' office of academic and student affairs; provided that the funds may also be used for expenses related to procuring consultants, supplies, travel, and communications.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the University of Hawaii for the purposes of this section.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2022.
