A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to housing.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Section 201H-6, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by amending subsection (b) to read as follows:

     "(b)  In establishing and maintaining the housing advocacy and information system, the corporation shall conduct market studies, engage in community outreach, and solicit recommendations from, and statistics and research developed by, agencies of the United States, the State, the counties, private research organizations, nonprofit community groups, trade associations, including those of the construction and real estate industries, departments, individuals at the University of Hawaii, and housing consumers.  The information gathered shall include for each year:

     (1)  The number of housing units that have been completed;

     (2)  The number of affordable housing units that have been completed;

     (3)  The number of housing development applications received by state or county governments, the corresponding number of housing units in each of those applications, and whether each application was approved or denied;

     (4)  A listing of parcels rezoned to accommodate new housing units;

     (5)  The number of net new housing units, including both rental housing and for-sale housing; and

     (6)  The number of new housing units constructed under any government incentive and the legal authority for the incentive."

     SECTION 2.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
