A BILL FOR AN ACT
relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of THE sixteenth SENATORIAL DISTRICT.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $14,950,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary, and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2021-2022 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the sixteenth senatorial district, as follows:
1. Aiea Elementary School
A. Design and construction for campus-wide covered walkways; ground and site improvements.

Construction $900,000
Total funding $1,000,000
2. Aiea High School
A. Design for a new state-of-the-art culinary program; renovation of C building, rooms 1 and 2.
Design $100,000
Total funding $100,000
B. Design for a new multipurpose room in the cafeteria.
Design $100,000
Total funding $100,000
3. Lehua Elementary School
A. Construction of a new administration/library building.
Construction $11,000,000
Equipment $200,000
Total funding $11,200,000
4. Pearl City High School
A. Replace gymnasium bleachers.
Design $100,000
Construction $250,000
Equipment $600,000
Total funding $950,000
B. Renovate medical classroom.
Design $100,000
Construction $1,000,000
Equipment $500,000
Total funding $1,600,000
SECTION 2. The appropriations made for the capital improvement projects authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal year for which the appropriations are made; provided that all moneys from the appropriations that are unencumbered as of June 30, 2024, shall lapse as of that date.
SECTION 3. The sums appropriated for the respective capital improvement projects set forth in section 1 shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 4. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2021.
