A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF BUSINESS, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND TOURISM.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 201, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§201-     State film liaison; establishment.  (a)  There is established within the creative industries division of the department a state film liaison to plan, develop, and execute a statewide film industry development strategy to include all counties in the State for the purposes of establishing a collaborative film industry development program.

     (b)  The state film liaison shall be appointed by the director of business, economic development, and tourism without regard to chapter 76."

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2022-2023 to establish and fill one full-time equivalent (1.00 FTE) state film liaison position exempt from chapter 76, Hawaii Revised Statutes, and one full-time equivalent (1.00 FTE) administrative assistant position in the creative industries division of the department of business, economic development, and tourism to support the state film liaison.

     The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of business, economic development, and tourism for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2022.
