The purpose of this decision making meeting is to insert substantive provisions into the following short form bill. A public hearing will be scheduled at a later date, at which point testimony will be accepted.
RELATING TO GOVERNMENT OPERATION AND POLICY. Proposed SD1: Requires each new member of a board or commission to participate in a formal educational and orientation session with the head of the department with jurisdiction of that member’s board or commission in order to receive voting rights. Requires each department and agency to train their members at least once per calendar year.

RELATING TO GOVERNMENT. Proposed SD1: Designates November 28 of each year as Lā Kū‘oko‘a, Hawaiian Recognition Day, not constituting a state holiday, to celebrate the historical recognition of independence of the kingdom of Hawaii.
