Status

RELATING TO RESEARCH AND TECHNOLOGY GRANTS.

Establishes the research and technology grant program within the Hawaii technology development corporation to provide grants to qualified research and technology companies in Hawaii for eligible projects.  Establishes program guidelines and eligibility criteria for research and technology companies.  Requires eligible projects to foster science, technology, engineering, or mathematics education at the K-12 or university levels.  Appropriates funds to the program.  Takes effect on 7/1/2112.  (HD1)

RELATING TO MENTAL HEALTH.

Establishes the behavioral health social worker scholarship program at UH, which requires recipients of the scholarship to commit to five years of service with DHS, DOH, PSD, Judiciary, and service providers.  Appropriates funds.  Takes effect on December 31, 2059.  (HD1)

Status

RELATING TO THE UNIFORM EMPLOYEE AND STUDENT ONLINE PRIVACY PROTECTION ACT.

Establishes The Uniform Employee and Student Online Privacy Protection Act that adopts uniform laws on protecting the online accounts of employees, prospective employees, unpaid interns, applicants, students, and prospective students from employers and educational institutions.  Takes effect 1/1/2050.  (HD1)

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·    Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·    The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·    The date and time of the hearing; and

·    Measure number. 

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.
