RELATING TO RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS IN STATE HIRING.

Exempts dependents of military servicemembers from state residency requirement for employment with state or county government if the military servicemember is in Hawaii on bona fide military orders.  Effective on 1/1/2050.  (HD1)

RELATING TO HEALTH CARE WORKERS.

Classifies assault against health care security professionals as felony assault in the second degree.  Effective 7/1/2050.  (HD1)

Status

RELATING TO CONDOMINIUMS.

Clarifies that all condominiums may amend their declarations by the vote or written consent of owners representing at least sixty-seven per cent of the common interest, unless amended by the unit owners to require a higher percentage.  Clarifies the definition of "tenant" as it relates to those qualified to serve as a member of the board in the event a unit is owned by a corporation, partnership, or limited liability company.  Limits defamation actions against an association, board of directors, association director, officer, attorney, or other association representative.  Clarifies provisions concerning the installation of solar energy devices on common elements or limited common elements.  (HD1)

DECISION MAKING TO FOLLOW

 

Persons wishing to offer comments should submit testimony at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  Testimony should indicate:

·    Testifier's name with position/title and organization;

·    The Committee(s) to which the comments are directed;

·    The date and time of the hearing; and

·    Measure number. 

 

While every effort will be made to incorporate all testimony received, materials received on the day of the hearing or improperly identified or directed, may be distributed to the Committee after the hearing.

Testimony submitted will be placed on the legislative website.  This public posting of testimony on the website should be considered when including personal information in your testimony.
