"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO EDUCATION,"

The purpose of this measure is to establish and appropriate funds for a No Time to Lose Commission to examine how Hawaii's public schools can be internationally competitive.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Executive Office on Early Learning, State Public Charter School Commission, Hawaii State Teachers Association, and HawaiiKidsCAN. Your Committee received comments on this measure from the Department of Education, Office of Information Practices, Early Learning Board, Kamehameha Schools, and Hui for Excellence in Education Coalition.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2697, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
