Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 2470, H.D. 1, entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO HOUSING,"

begs leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to:

(1) Direct the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation to take title to a specified 15.418-acre parcel in Honokaa, Hawaii County, if the Corporation finds, upon completion of its due diligence, that the parcel is suitable for residential development; and

(2) Require the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation to conduct a feasibility study to determine whether the 15.418-acre parcel is suitable for an affordable rental housing project.

Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Hawaii Housing Finance and Development Corporation and Office of the Mayor of the County of Hawaii.

As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2470, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
