                , 2020

RE:   H.B. No. 2099

      H.D. 1

Honorable Scott K. Saiki

Speaker, House of Representatives

Thirtieth State Legislature

Regular Session of 2020

State of Hawaii

Sir:

Your Committees on Health and Human Services & Homelessness, to which was referred H.B. No. 2099 entitled:

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO THE EXECUTIVE OFFICE ON AGING,"

beg leave to report as follows:

The purpose of this measure is to amend the description in Act 127, Session Laws of Hawaii 2019, for the appropriation for the Alzheimer's disease and related dementia services coordinator within the Executive Office on Aging.

Your Committees received testimony in support of this measure from the Alzheimer's Association – Aloha Chapter and Manoa Cottage.  Your Committees received comments on this measure from the Executive Office on Aging.

Your Committees find that this measure corrects a small error in Act 127, Session Laws of Hawaii 2019, to enable the release of funding for a critically important position.

Your Committees have amended this measure by:

     (1)  Further refining the description in Act 127, Session Laws of Hawaii 2019, for the appropriation for the Alzheimer's disease and related dementia services coordinator within the Executive Office on Aging;

     (2)  Changing the appropriation to an unspecified amount to encourage further discussion; and

     (3)  Changing its effective date to July 1, 2050, to encourage further discussion.

As affirmed by the records of votes of the members of your Committees on Health and Human Services & Homelessness that are attached to this report, your Committees are in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 2099, as amended herein, and recommend that it pass Second Reading in the form attached hereto as H.B. No. 2099, H.D. 1, and be referred to your Committee on Finance.

Respectfully submitted on behalf of the members of the Committees on Health and Human Services & Homelessness,
