     Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred H.B. No. 1650, H.D. 1, entitled:

 

"A BILL FOR AN ACT RELATING TO SEXUAL ASSAULT EVIDENCE COLLECTION KITS,"

 

begs leave to report as follows:

 

     The purpose of this measure is to extend the deadline for each county police department to adopt and utilize an electronic tracking system for sexual assault evidence collection kits to January 1, 2021.

 

     Your Committee received testimony in support of this measure from the Department of the Attorney General, Department of the Prosecuting Attorney of the City and County of Honolulu, Office of the Prosecuting Attorney of the County of Hawaii, Department of the Prosecuting Attorney of the County of Maui, Honolulu Police Department, The Sex Abuse Treatment Center, and LGBT Caucus of the Democratic Party of Hawaii.

 

     As affirmed by the record of votes of the members of your Committee on Finance that is attached to this report, your Committee is in accord with the intent and purpose of H.B. No. 1650, H.D. 1, and recommends that it pass Third Reading.
