SENATE CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
RELATING TO THE RECESS OF THE THIRTIETH LEGISLATURE, REGULAR SESSION OF 2020.
WHEREAS, the Governor's Eighth Supplementary Proclamation Related to the COVID-19 Emergency, issued May 18, 2020, recognizes that the virus continues to endanger the health, safety, and welfare of the people of Hawai‘i; keeps in place the social distancing requirements described and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that restrict the gathering of fifty or more people; and encourages social distancing to minimize the transmission of infectious disease between people; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 242, Regular Session of 2020, the Legislature recessed the Regular Session of 2020 on March 17, 2020, and thereafter reconvened on May 11, 2020; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Article III, section 10, of the Hawaii State Constitution, any session may be recessed by concurrent resolution adopted by a majority of the members of each chamber;
now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the Thirtieth Legislature of the State of Hawaii, Regular Session of 2020, the House of Representatives concurring, that the Regular Session of 2020 be recessed for at least three days, beginning May 22, 2020; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that at the appropriate time the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives jointly declare through a signed memorandum the day and time to reconvene the Regular Session of 2020; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this Concurrent Resolution be transmitted to the Governor.
