A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO HIGHER EDUCATION.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  (a)  The University of Hawaii shall establish a two-year pilot project whereby the university offers a free application day in which all application fees for applications to any campus of the University of Hawaii system shall be waived for prospective students who qualify for Hawaii resident tuition.  The calendar date of the free application day for the pilot project shall be determined by the University of Hawaii.

     (b)  At least sixty days prior to the date of the free application day for each calendar year of the pilot project, the University of Hawaii shall issue public notice of the date of the free application day in a statewide publication, or any other appropriate means, including but not limited to the Internet.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
